Medieval Swordsmanship
Wednesday evenings, 7:30 - 10:00
European martial arts--especially swordsmanship--have captured popular imaginations. In this ongoimg course, students will learn authentic, martially sound principles of swordsmanship in a safe and friendly environment. The class assumes NO previous experience, although repeat students are welcome.
Continuing students will build upon the principles underlying Fiore de Liberi's system, expanding their understanding of footwork, use of the posta, principles of defense  and the Governors of a fight.   Moving beyond the longsword, students will approach other weapons, such as dagger, and short spear (lanza), as well as other manuscripts --e.g., Royal Armouries MS I.33.  Students may also participate in focused sparring exercises to integrate techniques into their repertoire.

Instructors: Robert Holland,  Scott Thomas
When:  Wednesdays, 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Location: Jamie's Dance Company studio,  3688 Washington St., Pleasanton.
Fees:  $50/mo.
