EQUIPMENT
We are mostly using shinai trainers with metal or wooden crossguards for sword-play exercises. The group has some loaner armour when you visit the first few times, but the recommended equipment is:
- Minimum Equipment for training
- Wooden dowel or broomstick sword trainer
- T-Shirt & Long training trousers
- Flat soled dance or tai chi shoes
- Leather Gloves
Minimum for sparring
- Shinai trainer
- Fencing helmet
Ice hockey Elbow guards and throat protection - Lacrosse gloves , Ice hockey gloves or SSG kevlar gloves
- Tai chi shoes or flat dancing shoes
Recommended equipment for sparring
- Shinai trainer or Aluminum/Steel trainer
- Light bascinet
- SSG Jacket (Suparelli)
- Metal elbow protection
Gorget - Metal gauntlets
- Flat medieval shoes
