Welcome to the Schola Saint George - Springfield Study Group! We held an organizational meeting on Saint George's Day, April 23rd.
We focus on the combatives and feats of arms, including both unarmoured and armoured fighting. We're "application agnostic," meaning our combatants exercise themselves in arms through a variety of formats: HEMA, SCA, mixed martial arts, combatives. We welcome all who are interested in Fiore dei Liberi's l'arte d'armizare. We're non-political and focused on the fun part--the fighting!
We have launched weekly meetings/practices/training sessions every Tuesday at 6 pm, beginning on May 3rd. During the summer months we will be meeting at Fassnight Park, 1301 S. Campbell Avenue https://parkboard.org/.../facility/details/Fassnight-Park-36

If you are interested in Medieval Sword fighting we would love for you to come check us out.
TRAINING PREFERENCES
Presently: Soft synthetic weapons; transitioning to rebated (steel).
On CAMPUS: HEMA-style protective gear; gambesons / padded HEMA jacket; gloves, fencing masks.
OFF CAMPUS: Armour (but starting with whatever we can!)
COSTS & FEES
Before sparring, students must become members of the SSG, Inc., which is $35/year.
Currently none. May change later
